초등학생의 성격특성 5요인과 음악흥미도의 관계

초록

본 연구는 초등학생의 성격특성이 음악에 대한 흥미에 영향을 미친다는 가정 하에 초등학 생의 성격특성과 음악흥미도의 관계를 알아봄으로써 초등학교의 음악교육에 도움이 되는 기 초 자료를 얻고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경기도에 소재한 한 초등학교의 3학년 과 6학년 학생 536명 중 518명의 자료를 분석하였으며, 초등학생의 성격특성 5요인과 음악흥 미도 간 상관관계를 알아보고, 성격특성 5요인이 음악흥미도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아 보고자 하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 성격특성 5요인 중 신경증을 제외한 외향성, 개방성, 친화성, 성실성 요인은 음악흥미도 전체 및 하위요인들과 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 초등 학생의 성격특성 중 친화성, 성실성, 개방성 요인이 음악흥미도 전체 및 하위요인에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 학년(3, 6학년) 및 성별(남, 여)에 따른 초등학생의 성격특성 5요 인 및 음악흥미도의 관계를 검증한 결과, 음악흥미도에 영향을 미치는 성격요인들이 조금씩 차이를 보였지만 모두 통계적으로 유의했다. 특히 3학년의 성격특성이 6학년의 성격특성보다 모두 두 배 이상 음악흥미도 전체 및 하위요인에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 초등학생들의 음악흥미도에 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 요인으로 성격특성을 밝혔다는 점에서 그 의의가 있으며, 향후 교사가 음악수업에서 초등학생의 성격특성을 이해하고 그에 따라 음 악수업의 지도 방향을 설정하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain basic data helpful for music education in elementary school by examining the relationship between elementary school students' personality traits and musical interest under the assumption that elementary school students' personality traits affect their interest in music. For this purpose, 518 out of 536 third and sixth graders at an elementary school in Gyeonggi-do were analyzed, and the correlation between five elementary school students' personality traits and musical interest was investigated. The result are as follows. First, out of the five personality traits, extroversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness, excluding neuroticism, showed significant positive correlations with overall musical interest and sub-factors. Second, among the personality traits of elementary school students, the factors of agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness had a significant positive effect on the overall and sub-factors of musical interest. Lastly, as a result of verifying the relationship between five characteristics of elementary school students and music interest by grade (third and sixth graders) and gender (male and female), personality factors that affect music interest slightly differed, but all were statistically significant. In particular, it was found that the personality traits of the third grade affect the entire and sub-factors of musical interest more than twice as much as the personality characteristics of the sixth grade. This study is meaningful in that it revealed personality traits as a factor that significantly affects elementary school students' musical interest, and it will help teachers understand the personality ts of elementary school students in the future and set the direction of music classes accordingly.
