본 연구는 청소년들의 음악적 태도가 청소년들의 성격에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 분석한다. 이를위해 서울지역에 재학 중인 고등학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여, 음악태도와 성격의 체계적인관계를 고찰한다. 음악이 청소년에게 실질적으로 작용할 수 있는 순기능을 발견하고, 관련 이해관계자들에게 기초연구자료를 제공하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 음악적 태도가 외향적 성격에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 통계적으로 유의한 정(+)의 결과를 제시한다. 이는 음악이 타인과의 교제 또는 연주를 통해 관심을 끄는 행위를 하는 예술이기 때문에, 외향성에 주요한 영향을 주는 것으로 해석된다. 둘째, 음악적 태도가 개방적 성격으로 이끄는 가능성이 확인되었다. 개방적인 성격은 지능과 밀접한 관련이 있기 때문에, 일부의 연구자들이 제기한 음악과 지능의 밀접한관계를 간접적으로 설명해 준다. 셋째, 음악적 태도가 높을수록 친화적인 성격을 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 친화적인 성격을 가진 사람들은 타인과 잘 어울리고 이타적인 성격을 가지고 있음을 감안할 때,음악적 태도는 타인과의 교제를 활성화시키고 이타적인 성격을 갖게 하는 것으로 분석되었다. 넷째, 음악적 태도가 높은 청소년은 성실한 성격을 가질 가능성이 높다는 결과가 도출되었다. 이는 음악적 태도가 높을수록 보다 유능감과 성취지향성, 자기규제를 효과적으로 통제할 수 있음이 드러난 결과이다. 다섯째, 강건성 분석결과는 대부분 기존 분석내용을 지지하는 결과가 나타났지만, 신경증과 친화성에 대해서는 강건한 결론을 제시하지 못하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 볼 때 음악적 태도는 성격을 형성하는 청소년기에 중요한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으므로, 이를 활성화하기 위한 음악교육에 관련된다양한 주체들의 노력이 필요하다.
Abstract
This study analyzes that musical attitude influence characters of adolescents through empiricalmethodology. In order to analyze the influences, the research conducts a survey to high school students inSeoul district, and considers a systemic relation between music and character. The result of analysis isfollowing. First, analyzing relations between musical knowledge and extroverted character, the analysis showsa positive result in statistical significance level. Because music needs cooperation among people and attractssomeone by playing instruments. It seems that music significantly influences extroverted characters. Second, itis identified that musical attitude results in open-minded character. Since open-minded character haveassociation with intelligence, the analysis indirectly explains close relations between music and attitude, whichsome researchers raised. Third the analysis verifies that the more musical attitude of students, the higherpossibility of friendly character. Considering that someone, who has the friendly character, can socialize withothers and has altruistic character, the analysis shows that musical attitude activates relationship of others andmakes people altruistic. Fourth, according the research, adolescents, who have high level of musicalknowledge, are more likely to have an earnest character. Finally, robustness analysis shows results ofsupporting most analysis of existing, but can't suggest robustness result about neuroticism and agreeableness. Based on this research, music mainly influences adolescents' character in moment of forming character.
