주요 정당에 대한 유권자의 광범위한 불만과 불신에도 불구하고 한국의 정당연구는 여전히 정당정치의 위기의 원인이 어디에서 비롯하였으며 어떻게 이를 해결해 나갈지에 대한 적절한 대답을 제공하지 못하고 있다. 한국 정당연구의 가장 큰 문제점은 무엇보다도 한국과는 전혀 다른 역사와 맥락을 가진 서구 민주주의 사회에서 역사적으로 발전해온 정당조직의 유형을 무비판적으로 적용하는 데 있다. 이러한 문제의식하에서 본 논문은 1980년대 후반 이후 짧은 기간 동안 정당정치의 제도화를 이룬 동유럽 신생민주주의 국가의 사례를 통해 한국 정당연구가 얻을 수 있는 함의와 분석틀에 대해 논의한다.
Abstract
In spite of widespread dissatisfaction and distrust of major political parties, Korean party studies have failed to provide an appropriate answer to questions regarding origins and solutions of the crisis of party politics. The most important problem in the literature lies at the uncritical application of the typology of party organizations developed in west European democracies, in spite of their distinctive histories and contexts, to Korea. From these perspectives, this paper preliminarily discusses the implication and analytical framework that east European new democracies, which have achieved the institutionalization of party politics in a relatively short period of time since the democratization in the late 1980s, can provide to the study of Korean party politics.
