Emotional Intelligence: An Argument for Emotionally Intelligent Employees in the Public Sector

초록

A growing number of academics and senior managers have recently come to recognize that the importance of emotional intelligence (EI) predicts outstanding performance in the workplace. Most public organizations have considered the emotions of employees as inappropriate for organizational life, disruptive, and illogical matters. Few studies have seriously considered EI topics in relation to public organizational theory. However, many public service jobs now require interpersonal contact that is either face-to-face or voice-to-voice. All these work require emotional intelligent employees who can exercise EI skills daily. This paper focuses on the overall EI concepts and the importance of EI in public organizations.

Abstract
