용하여 정부로부터 연구개발 자금지원을 받은 기업이 그렇지 않은 기업과 비교하여 재무성과가 차별적인지를 살펴보았다. 분석결과 정부의 연구개발 보조는 수혜기업의 자체 연구개발 투자, 장기차입금 조달, 매출증대에는 기여하고 있었다. 반면 정부지원을 받았더라도 설비투자 및 고용확대, 생산성 및 수익성 개선에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다. 특히방법론적으로 처치효과모델(treatment effect)을 적용하여 정부가 연구개발 지원기업을 선정하면서 발생되는 편의(sample selectivity)를 치유하고 정부지원의 순수효과를 측정했다는데기존연구와 차별성이 있다.
Abstract
This study compares 5-year financial performance between the firms supported by government R&D programs and otherwise. Based on Korea Innovation Survey by Science and Technology Policy Institute and the corporations database of Korea Invest Service, this study shows the supported firms outperforms non-supported ones in terms of investing in R&D, raising long-term loan and increasing total sales. On the other hand, there are no difference to invest in plant and equipment, hire workers, and improve productivity and profit. This study is unique in measuring the financial performances from various angels of financial indicators and treating sample selectivity problem methodologically.
