Abstract
The purpose of this study was to confirm the relationships between collectivism, affective commitment, and organizational citizenship behavior. The first survey collected data on collectivism in May-June 2020. And the second survey collected data on affective commitment and organizational citizenship behavior in February and March 2021. Two surveys were conducted with 178 same persons from 28 institutions. This study used bootstrap statistical technique to test the hypotheses. As a result of this study, collectivism had significantly positive effect on affective commitment. And collectivism had a positive effect on courtesy and participatory behavior. However, no significant effect of collectivism on altruistic and conscientious behavior was confirmed. Collectivism was found to have a positive effect on courtesy and participatory (organization-focused) behavior through affective commitment. On the other hand, the mediating effect of affective commitment between collectivism and altruistic and conscientious behaviors(individualfocused) behavior was not confirmed. The affective commitment triggered by the members' collectivism will induce voluntary participation and norm compliance for the organization. This study may contribute to a more in-depth understanding of the role of collectivism and affective commitment in the induced process of courtesy and participatory (organization-focused) behavior.
