황순원의 <카인의 후예> 연구박 은 태이 논문은 황순원의 <카인의 후예>에 대한 것이다. 본 논문에서는 먼저, 이 소설에 형상화된 인물과 세계의 성격을 분석하였다. <카인의 후예>에는 두 개의 대립된 인물과 세계상이 나타난다. 평면적 인물과 입체적 인물, 자연의 공간과 역사의 공간이 그것이다. 이 두 대립된 인물과 세계는 가치론적인 성격을 가지고 있다. 평면적 인물과 자연적 공간이 긍정적 성격을 지니고 있는 반면, 입체적 인물과 역사의 공간은 부정적 성격을 지니고 있다. 이런 인물과 성격에 대한 묘사는 상당히 이데올로기적이다. 이 묘사의 기반을 이루는 이데올로기의 내용은 봉건적 성격을 가지고 있음이 드러난다. 북한의 토지개혁은, 지주 계급에게는 몰락을 선언하는 역사적 사건이었다. 황순원은 이 지주 계급에 속하였다. 따라서 몰락하는 지배계급이 새롭게 등장하는 세계를 그린 것이 이 소설이다. 그런데 <카인의 후예>는 몰락하는 계급의 역사적 원한과 증오로 채워지지는 않았다. 굴절되었지만 당대의 새롭게 형성되는 인간과 세계의 모습이 비교적 진솔하게 이 소설에 담겨있다. 이것이 이 소설의 뛰어난 성과이다. 즉, <카인의 후예>는 당대에 존재했던 한 계급의 사회적 의식이 가장 높은 수준에서 발현된 소설이라 할 수 있다.
Abstract
A Study on Descendants of Cain Park Eun TaeThis study is about Descendants of Cain. First of all, this study conducted an analysis of formed character and world. There are two conflicting characters and worlds: flat and round character, world of nature and world of history. These two conflicting characters and worlds shows axiological trait. While flat character and world of nature contains positive aspect, round character and historic space has negative aspect. description on characters and worlds is quite ideologic. content based on this description reveals its feudal characteristics. Land reform of North Korea was a historical event that had leaded breakdown of the landed class. Writer, Soonwon Hwang was member of this breakdown class. Therefore, this is the story about up-coming era described by collapsing class member. However, this story, Descendants of Cain is not about resentment and hatred of falling class. Even though it is partially refractive, it is clear that this novel contains relatively honest forms of new characters and world. And this is what makes this novel unique and superior. In other words, Descendants of Cain is story that conducted by an intellectual falling but once ruling class from his highest social consciousness.
