초록
The aim of this paper is to explain the semantic correlation between future tense and modality and to analyze the modal meaning of Russian future tense. The future may be thought to be the most modal. The future tense is rarely temporal concept, it necessarily involves an element of intention, indication and prediction. Depending on the modal inference, russian future tense would be grouped as non-epistemic or epistemic. The future tenses with a non-epistemic modal inference express participant- internal necessity and participant-external necessity. The future tense with meaning of participant-internal necessity expresses volition and intention, the future tense with meaning of participant-external necessity expresses order. The kind of epistemic modal inferences may be distinguished as certainty and possibility. In order to interpret modal inference of future tense, we have to consider the nature of subject and action. The sentences with meaning of intention could be expressed by animate, referential subject and controllable and voluntary act. But subject of sentences with epistemic inference can be all person, non-animate and non-referential. Most modal inferences occur with either perfective present and imperfective future. The function of aspects is modification of the degree of strength of modal inference. And it is because imperfective aspects are linked to the reference time in context, while the interpretation of perfective aspects is incompatible with a simultaneous epistemic evaluation time.
