Abstract

On the Sensible Perceptions and Reality―focusing on Kang Sin Jae's early short storiesKim Bok SoonBy using sexual metaphor, man-centric epistemology changes the difference between man and woman into that of reason and sense. This epistemological superiority, extending to ontological one, has deprived woman of he being, perception and thinking in history. Concepts such as truth, universality and objectivity are constructed socially.There are two methods to recover the right of sense. One way is based on the separation of subject and object. The other one is deconstruction. The former is rationalist method and the latter is presented by Deleuze. The new aesthetics has insights to penetrate into the inner relationships of universality and peculiarity, assuming that they are equal. In Kang Sin Jae's early novels sense is not just a feeling but a way of communication by which woman can understand the world. Sensible perception is neither turning away from the real world nor nihilism. It is one way to perceives reality. Man and woman have a different method to understand the world. The sensual love which is discovered in Kang's early short stories, is the beginning of a new genealogy of novel writing. In her stories sense or sensual love is connected to female desire. Female's sexual desire is impulsive. In her sense, Kang's novels subverting and can be connected to utopian thinking. But conflicts which female's sexual desires cause with social and cultural tradition, are not described in detail. This can be explained by the politics of exclusion.
