강신재 소설에 나타난 혐오 감정의 윤리적 인식 연구

이 연구의 목적은 강신재의 소설에 나타난 ‘혐오’의 윤리적 인식 변화 과정을 분석함으로써 현재에도 끊임없이 ‘인간혐오’의 수단으로 소비되는 ‘혐오’라는 부정적 이슈를 보다 긍적적이고 생산적으로 논의할 수 있는 새로운 가능성으로 해석하는 것이다. 한국 소설에서 ‘혐오’관련 논의는 ‘사랑’과 ‘연애’에 한정하여 수단화하는 경향이 있기 때문에 소설을 분석하는 데 있어서 주된 중심 감정으로 활용되지 못했다. 한국전쟁 이후에 여러 작품들에서 여성인물들에 대한 혐오에 대한 인식은 기존의 제도와 윤리관에 대한 비판이 전유되는 양상으로 그려지고 있음에도 불구하고 작가의 세계관을 관통하는 주된 작가의식을 축소시킬 것이라는 우려 때문에 적극적으로 접근할 수 없었다. 이는 기존의 연구가 ‘혐오’라는 용어를 충분히 활용하지 못한 이유이기도 하다. 이처럼 ‘혐오’는 한국 문학사에서 하위 범주에 놓여 있는 개념으로서 면밀하게 분석되지 못한 측면이 있다. 그러나 소설에서 여성인물에 대한 ‘혐오’는 자기혐오인 동시에 전쟁 직후의 불완전한 세계에 대한 자각으로서 새로운 이상으로의 확장 가능성을 내포하고 있기 때문에 더욱 주목을 필요로 한다. 본 연구는 강신재의 소설에 나타난 인물의 윤리적 인식을 분석함으로써 혐오 감정이 억압적·폭력적 현실에 대항하기 위한 전유의 형태임을 확인하고자 하였다. 강신재 소설에서 50년대를 전후의 피폐한 현실을 복구하기 위한 방안으로서 여성의 다양한 삶의 모습을 그렸다면, 60년대의 소설은 이로부터 변화된 새 시대에 대한 열망과 사회 문화적 배경을 주요 동기로 삼아서 본격 대중소설로 인기를 끌었다. 이에 그동안 축적된 50년대의 강신재 소설의 선행 연구사를 바탕으로 60년대 장편 소설을 분석하여 강신재 소설의 연구 범위를 확장하였다. 60년대의 시대성을 강신재 소설에 일관되게 흐르는 청춘 남녀의 ‘사랑’으로 해석하는 이전 연구사를 수용하면서, ‘혐오’의 발생 원인과 동력을 살핌으로써 문학사에서의 의미를 성찰하고자 하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of changing the ethical perception of 'hate' in Kang Shin-jae's novel. Therefore, the negative issue of "disgust," which is consumed as a means of "human hatred," is interpreted as a new possibility to discuss more positively and productively. In Korean novels, discussions related to 'hate' tend to be limited to 'love', so they were not used as the main central emotion in analyzing novels. In various works after the Korean War, the perception of hatred of female characters is depicted as being exclusively criticized for the existing system and ethics. Nevertheless, it was not possible to actively approach it due to concerns that it would reduce the main writer's consciousness that penetrates the artist's worldview. This is also the reason why existing research has not fully used the term 'hate'. As such, 'hate' is a concept that lies in a subcategory in the history of Korean literature, and there is an aspect that has not been analyzed closely. However, the 'hate' of female characters in the novel requires more attention because it implies the possibility of expansion into a new ideal as both self-hatred and an awareness of the imperfect world immediately after the war. By analyzing the ethical perception of female characters in Kang Shin-jae's novel, this study attempted to confirm that hate emotions are a form of exclusive use to counter oppressive and violent reality. Kang Shin-jae's novel depicted various aspects of women's lives as a way to restore the impoverished reality around the 50s, but the novel of the 60s became popular as a full-fledged popular novel, focusing on the changed desire for a new era and socio-cultural background. Accordingly, based on the previous researchers of Kang Shin-jae's novels accumulated in the 50s, the research scope of Kang Shin-jae's novels in the 60s was expanded by analyzing them. While accepting previous researchers who interpreted the period of the 60s as the "love" of young men and women consistently flowing in Kang Shin-jae's novels, they tried to reveal the cause, power, substance, and meaning of "hate" as a means for this.
