카프(KAPF) 비평 재론(再論) : 카프의 비평사적 위치이 현 식본고는 카프(KAPF) 비평이 비평사에서 차지하는 위치를 정리하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 특히 이를 위해 한국근대문학비평의 발전과정이라는 관점에서 거시적으로 카프 비평의 공과를 정리하였다. 논의 결과를 간략히 간추리면 다음과 같다.카프 비평의 문제점으로 자주 거론되는 것이 관념성과 도식성이다. 그런데 카프 비평의 관념성은 초창기의 한국 근대문학이 발전하는 과정에서 겪을 수밖에 없었던 현상이다. 카프는 그 출발점이 서구와 일본을 통해 수용된 넓은 의미의 마르크시즘이었다. 근대적 문학 전통과 경험이 축적되지 않은 상황에서 아직 이를 수용할 수 있는 지적 기반이 취약한 식민지 조선의 젊은 비평가들은 초기에 그것을 관념적으로밖에 이해하지 못하였다. 그런 점에서 카프의 관념성은 자생성이 결핍된 수입된 이론과 밀접하게 연결된다. 게다가 노동자 계급 독자성에 대한 배타적인 집착으로 제국주의 지배 아래 문학적 연대의 틀을 모색하는 데에도 실패할 수밖에 없었다. 그러나 그것이 그냥 수입된 것이 아니라 당대 지식인들의 주체적 의지가 개입된 선택의 과정이었음을 간과해서는 안 된다. 따라서 카프 비평의 관념성 역시 이론의 주체화 과정을 통해 극복되고 넘어서야 할 과제로서 이해되어야 하는 것이고 그것은 한국 근대문학 비평사 전반을 탐구하는 데 우리가 고려해야 할 중요한 요소이기도 하다.다른 한편 카프 비평은 넓게 보았을 때 문학의 사회적 연관성을 이론적으로 탐색하는 것을 과제로 삼았다. 그 결과 문학을 도구적으로 이해하는 기능주의적 편향도 있었지만 전체적으로는 창작방법논쟁을 통해 문학의 현실 연관성에 대한 구체화된 이론을 정립할 수 있었다. 아울러 문학운동조직체로서 활발한 논쟁을 통해 비평이라는 장르가 하나의 문학 제도로 성립하는데 기여하였다. 그 결과 카프는 1930년대 후반에 접어들어 한국의 근대문학비평이 난숙하게 발전해 가는 데에 밑거름 역할을 한 것으로 평가할 수 있다. 카프의 성과와 한계를 토대로 한국의 근대문학비평은 1930년대 후반에 이르러 괄목할만한 성장을 하게 된다. 1930년대 후반의 비평은 카프의 성과를 무시하고서는 이해할 수 없다. 심지어 카프에 소속되어있지 않은 평론가조차 그 영향으로부터 자유롭지 않을 만큼 카프의 자장(磁場)은 막강했다고 할 수 있다. 그런 성과는 마침내 해방직후 민족문학론이나 문학가동맹이라는 범 문단적 조직체를 조직하는 데에까지 발전하기에 이르는 것이다.
Abstract
Rethinking of KAPF's Criticism : Literary Historical Status of KAPF's CriticismYi Hyun ShikIn this thesis, I study on the criticism of KAPF(Korea Artista Proleta Federatio ; Esperanto). Especially I am interested in it's literary historical status. I analyse it in three aspects ; an armchair criticism, literary relation of reality, and self-consciousness of criticism. Let me briefly sum up my points.First, the armchair criticism of KAPF was the result of insufficient acceptance of western literary theory. In those day, Korean critics had not properly experienced modern society and modern literature. They were only able to experience western modern literature through Japan. Second, Korean modern literary criticism was developed by Korean critic's endeavor. They could have correct understanding on literary relation of reality. That moment was great controversy on creative methods.Third, from institutional point of view, KAPF contributed to the development of Korean modern literary criticism. KAPF had produced many of literary critics and debates. KAPF has had strong influence on the formation of Korean modern literary criticism. Therefore, Korean modern literature could have self-consciousness of literature.In conclusion, Korean modern literary criticism in the late 1930's could be developed from the foundation of KAPF.
