한국어 학습자의 말하기와 쓰기에 나타난 어휘 사용의 종단적 연구

이 연구는 한국어 학습자가 생산한 말하기와 쓰기 자료에 나타난 어휘 사용의 특성을 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구 목적에 도달하기 위해 연구자는 연구 대상자를 선정하여 7개월 동안 지속적인 만남을 통한 대화 자료와 학습자가 한국어를 학습하면서 생산한 쓰기 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 말뭉치 분석을 통해 TTR 및 어휘 밀도를 측정하였으며, 어휘 사용의 빈도를 추출하였다. 연구 결과 어휘의 다양도를 측정할 수 있는 TTR은 중급 말하기, 초급 말하기, 초급 쓰기, 중급 쓰기의 순으로 값이 높았다. 어휘 밀도는 중급 말하기에서 가장 높게 나타났으며 다음으로 초급 말하기, 중급 쓰기, 초급 쓰기 순이었다. 어휘 빈도의 측면에서 조사한 결과, 초급에서는 조사의 빈도가 말하기와 쓰기에서 다르게 나타났다. 중급에서는 말하기 자료에서 다양한 종류의 부사의 사용이 나타나고 쓰기에서는 조사의 사용 빈도가 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구는 한국어 학습자가 한국어를 학습하는 과정에서 생산한 말하기와 쓰기의 실제적인 자료를 통해 어휘 사용의 특성을 어느 정도 가늠할 수 있었다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 판단된다.
Abstract
This study aims to manifest the attributes of vocabulary presented in the speaking and writing materials produced by Korean learners. In order to fulfill the objective of this study, the researcher selected the study subjects and collected the dialog materials through the continuous meetings with them for a certain period of time and the writing materials which the learners generated as they were taught with the Korean language. The collected data were assessed by corpus analysis to measure Type-Token Ratio (TTR) and lexical density and derive the frequency of vocabulary usage. As a result, TTR, which can measure the diversity of vocabulary, displayed high values in order of intermediate level speaking, beginning level speaking, beginning level writing, and intermediate level writing. Vocabulary density was the highest in intermediate level speaking, followed by beginning level speaking, intermediate level writing, and beginning level writing. In regard to the frequency of vocabulary, the study result suggested that the beginners exhibited different frequency level of postposition between speaking and writing. As for the intermediate level subjects, the use of various kinds of adverbs was observed in the speaking materials while the frequency level of proposition was found to be high in writing.
