초록

이 연구는 최근에 중요시 되고 있는 사고력과 관련하여 지리 학습을 통해서 계발 가능한 사고력이 무엇인지를 밝히고, 지리적 사고력을 향상시키는데 이용할 수 있는 학습장를 개발한 것이다. 인간의 사고는 지식, 인지조작, 성향으로 구성되어 있으며 사고력은 수준과 특성에 따라 다양한 방식으로 분류되고 있다. 사고 이론과 관련하여 두 가지 견해가 대립하고 있으며 아직도 그 논란은 지속되고 있다. 그 하나는 일반론이며 다른 하나는 영역-특수론이다. 영역-특수적 사고력의 하나로서 지리적 사고력은 지리적 지식들을 이용하고, 지리학적 사유 방식으로 인지 조작이 이루어지며, 사고의 결과 지리교육의 목적과 목표 달성에 기여할 수 있는 사고로 정의할 수 있으며, 지리적 사고에는 지리적 지식과 함께 지리적 심상과 지리적 상상력이 필요하다.Gersmehl은 이런 지리적 사고력을 신장할 수 있는 지리적 기능을 일반적 사고력을 통해 달성 가능한 영역과 다른 것으로는 대체할 수 없는 공간적 사고력을 통해서만 달성 가능한 영역으로 구분하였다. 그리고 공간적 사고력을 13가지로 상세화 하였다. 본 연구는 Gersmehl이 분류한 다양한 공간적 사고를 이끌어 낼 수 있는 학습장을 개발한 것이다. 학습장은 학생들 스스로 능동적인 자기 주도적 학습이 가능하도록 만들어진 교수-학습 자료이다. 이를 통해 학생들의 지리적 사고력을 신장할 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify the thinking skills that can be developed by geographical education as well as to create a wide variety of worksheets which can be used to enhance the geographical thinking skills. In general, knowledge, cognitive operation and attention consist of human?s way of thinking and the thinking skills are classified in many ways by their levels and characteristics. There are two conflicting perspectives regarding the thinking skills, one of which is called the general thinking and the other of which is referred as the domain-specific thinking. There is still controversy on this subject. The geographical thinking as the domain-specific one is defined to address geographical knowledge and to use cognitive operation by geographical thinking. As a result, this way of thinking contributes to achieving the goals and objectives of the geographical education. And also, the geographical thinking needs to integrate geographical knowledge and geographical imagery as well as geographical imagination.According to Gersmehl, geographical skills which can improve geographical thinking are divided into two domains, one of which can be achieved by general thinking and the other of which can only be accomplished by spacial thinking. In addition to this division, he has classified the spacial thinking into 13 elements. The worksheets have been developed for this study according to Gersmehl?s spacial thinking specification in order to improve the learners? geographical thinking. Worksheets are developed as teaching and learning materials in order to lead the students into active and autonomous learning. These worksheets are expected to enable the learners to enhance their geographical thinking.
