Abstract
Generative AI technology holds transformative potential for education. This study aims to assess the current utilization of online teaching and learning platforms in public education and investigate the needs of school stakeholders regarding AI-based personalized education services. To explore these needs, a survey involving 127 teachers, 225 students, and 127 parents in Seoul was conducted. The analysis of perceptions regarding AI-based personalized education support revealed that teachers were comparatively more positive than students and parents in perceiving the necessity and effectiveness of such services. Examining the differences in the perception of the effectiveness of AI-based personalized education service scenarios among the three groups showed that teachers perceived higher effectiveness than students and parents. When prioritizing AI-based personalized education services, all three groups expressed a common need for support in basic academic skills and recommendations for teaching and learning materials. However, teachers and parents exhibited a higher demand for student learning history management, while students emphasized a greater need for career guidance. Regarding support for realizing personalized education based on AI, high needs were identified for edutech devices, training on their usage, and reducing administrative work. Basing on the study results, we discuss pertinent issues for the effective implementation of AI-based education services.
