Abstract
This study aimed to analyze design principles, effectiveness, and operational factors of online learner counseling support systems in educational institutions to propose evidence-based design directions and operational strategies. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a systematic review was conducted of research from 2015 to 2024. Of 1,792 initially identified studies, 30 were ultimately analyzed, with two educational technology experts independently conducting literature screening and quality assessment (κ=0.78-0.85). Design principles were analyzed using thematic analysis, effectiveness through effect size analysis, and operational factors through frequency and content analysis. Five core design principles emerged: personalized support (100%), enhanced interactivity (93.3%), self-directed reflection support (80.0%), real-time feedback provision (76.7%), and accessibility assurance (66.7%). Key effectiveness outcomes included learning motivation enhancement (86.7%), self-efficacy improvement (76.7%), and increased learning engagement (70.0%). Facilitating factors identified were user-friendly interface, counselors' digital competency, and institutional policy support, while barriers included technical issues, privacy concerns, and digital divide. This study provides a foundation for customized system development by presenting core principles applicable across diverse educational contexts.
