Abstract
The concept of Enthropocene, which has recently emerged, needs to be searched as a social and cultural process, not merely as a matter of scientific debate. This study examines the social dimension and social nature of Enthropocene in terms of human future, risk, and environmental limitations, and derives its implications for geography education. The concept of the Enthropocene sees the prophetic anxieties and anxieties of the place where humans reside in nature, ie how industrial capitalism should be eliminated. Then, the implications of geography education for Enthropocene are examined from the perspective of restoration of the search for the relationship between human and nature, and cultivation of global citizenship based on sustainability. Geography education should encourage students to prepare critical and creative encounters with uncertainty about humanity. This requires reflection on the past as well as on the future. Through active learning and community-based learning, students will be able to cultivate appropriate competency for Enthropocene.
