자기보존, 연대, 이성성 – 아도르노 철학에서 이성적 자기보존의 이념

초록

이 논문의 목표는 아도르노에게 이성적 자기보존의 이념이 있음을 보이는 것이 다. 이 이념은 『계몽의 변증법』에서 탐구된 바 있었던 근대적 자기보존의 한계를 극복하기 위한 대안으로서 모색되고 제안된다. 비록 아도르노는 이성적 자기보존이라는 표현을 사용하지는 않았으나 우리는 그에 상응하는 사유를 아도르노의 여러 저작에서 발견할 수 있다. 이를 위한 단서로서 우리는 근대적 자기보존 및 주관성 개념을 정초한 대표적 사상가인 스피노자에 대해 아도르노가 언급했음에 주목하고자 한다. 스피노자에 의거하여 아도르노는 자기보존이 파국으로 치달은 이유를 고립과 단절에 기초한 근대의 모나드적 주체에서 발견하며, 이에 대한 비판 속에서 연대적 주관성에 기초한 전체의 화해를 주장한다. 이것은 기존의 자기보존에 대한 추상적 부정이 아니라 모든 개체들의 공생을 위한 이념이라는 점에서 진정한 자기보존이자, 그것이 오직 이성 자체의 힘에 의해서만 가능한 일이라는 점에서 이성적 자기보존의 이념이라고 명명될 수 있다.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to argue that Adorno has the idea of rational Self- Preservation as an alternative way of overcoming the limits of modern Self- Preservation. Although we cannot find the expression as such, it is possible to find the idea of rational Self-Preservation in his works. The clue lies in his Spinoza- reception. As one of the representative modern thinkers, Spinoza has elaborated the widely accepted version of the notion of Self-Preservation and Subjectivity. It is the spinozist conception that Adorno criticizes as a closed form. And at the center of his criticism, we can find the idea of rational Self-Preservation based on a new, open subjectivity. Because this idea requires the capability of self- transcendence with respect to other and otherness, it can be also considered as an idea for universal reconciliation.
