Abstract

On the Revised Lao Qida published Jiājing Age Chung, Kwang This paper is a research on Lao Qida published in the Jiājing(嘉靖) age, which is in the collection of Sangi Mungo. The book was used by a government official at least until 1548, so it can be assumed that it was published at least before 1549. The one who had owned it left annotations which were useful for learning Chinese on many pages of the book. Especially, the notable thing is that he put Kugyeol written in either Hangeul or the Chinese character on many parts of the original text and also translated many passages of the original text in Korean, referring to a Korean version of Lao Qida. With this material, we can figure out how Kugyeol was really used, and the fact is that at that time, both Hangeul-to and Chinese character-to were jointly used. Additionally, the annotations for difficult words or passages, mainly quoted from Nobakjipram(老朴集覽), were written in the upper margin of the pages in which they locate. Studying this material, we could get a glimpse of how Chinese was taught during that period.
