Abstract
The purpose of this study is to confirm the effect of attribution type on academic self-regulation and to analyze the mediating effect of self-efficacy. A survey was conducted on 211 students attending A university in Seoul, and attribution types, self-efficacy, and self-regulation were measured. Statistical analysis using structural equation modeling was performed. In the success attribution, the effort attribution and study strategy attribution had a positive effect on academic self-regulation, while the intelligence and luck attributions had a negative effect on academic self-regulation. Effort, luck, and intelligence attributions for success also showed significant mediating effects through self-efficacy. On the other hand, in the attribution of failure, it was found that the teacher attribution and the study strategy attribution had a positive effect on academic self-regulation, while the luck attribution had a negative effect. As a result, learners’ self-efficacy and academic self-regulation differ depending on the learner’s attribution type, and that the attribution type has a different effect on academic self-regulation through self-efficacy.
