본 연구는 메타버스 플랫폼 사용자들의 소셜 문화 패턴을 분석하고 이를 바 탕으로 메타버스 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS)에 적합한 소셜 프로토콜을 설계하 는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 결과, 메타버스 SNS는 전통적 SNS와 달리 아바 타 기반 정체성, 실시간⋅몰입형 상호작용, 공간성과 비언어적 표현을 통해 새 로운 사회적 경험을 창출하며, 이용자들은 게임/오락 추구형, 사회⋅관계 추구 형, 자기표현/창작 추구형 등으로 구분되는 다양한 동기와 행태를 보였다. 또한 음성 예절, 아바타 간 안전 거리 유지, 개인정보 보호와 같은 비공식적 규범이 자연스럽게 형성되어 사회적 상호작용을 조율하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 토대 로 제안된 소셜 프로토콜은 아이덴티티 관리, 커뮤니케이션 채널 설계, 가상 경제 시스템, 상호운용성, 안전성 및 윤리적 고려 등 다층적 요소를 포괄하며, 향후 메타버스 SNS의 사용자 경험 설계 및 플랫폼 운영 전략에 중요한 지침이 될 수 있음을 제시한다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the social and cultural patterns of metaverse platform users and, based on these findings, design a social protocol suitable for metaverse social network services (SNS). The results indicate that, unlike traditional SNS, metaverse SNS foster new forms of social experience through avatar-based identity, real-time and immersive interactions, spatiality, and nonverbal communication. Users were found to exhibit diverse motivations and behaviors, categorized into gaming/entertainment-oriented, social/relationship- oriented, and self-expression/ creation-oriented types. In addition, informal norms such as voice etiquette, maintaining safe avatar distances, and protecting personal information were observed to naturally regulate social interactions. Drawing on these insights, the proposed social protocol encompasses multi-layered elements including identity management, communication channel design, virtual economy systems, interoperability, and ethical as well as safety considerations, providing critical guidelines for enhancing user experience and platform management in metaverse SNS.
