Abstract
The global pandemic has rapidly shifted people's interaction activities from offline to online platforms. People have become interested in online technology that provides experiences similar to reality, and the metaverse market is growing rapidly. Metaverse is a technology that implements avatars and virtual spaces in 3D, and users use independent avatars in the metaverse to make exchanges similar to reality. This study proposes a mechanism in which metaverse personalization (avatar) and socialization (communication) support lead to the intention to continuous use. We presented a research model based on previous studies in the field of virtual reality and social media and tested hypotheses using samples obtained from ZEPETO users aged 20 years or older. As a result, avatar customization and communication support increased the intention to continuous use through authentic experience. In addition, telepresence strengthened the intention to continuous use by generating an interaction effect with the avatar customization and communication support. Our research presents a business model strategy to enhance personalization and socialization of the metaverse platform.
