본 논문은 장현광의 『역학도설』 권3 ｢교저편｣에 수록된 도상과 주석을 분석하고, 그가 『역학도설』을 집필할 때 참고한 서적을 규명함으로써 장현광의 철학적 입장을 살펴보고자 한다. 『역학도설』은 『주역』 해석과 다양한 도설을 집대성하여 조선 후기 역학의 성격과 수준을 보여주는 중요한 저술이며, 동시에 장현광의 철학적 사유를 엿볼 수 있는 자료이다. 이러한 점에서 『역학도설』을 통해 조선 후기 역학 연구에서 중요한 자료가 무엇인지, 그리고 장현광의 철학적 연원이 어디에 있는지를 확인할 수 있다. 이를 밝히기 위해 장현광이 참고한 구체적인 서적을 분석하고, 『역학도설』에서 새롭게 추가하거나 변형한 요소를 규명하고자 한다. 장현광은 최신의 역학 관련 서적뿐만 아니라 『역학계몽』 주석서 및 ｢하도｣·｢낙서｣ 해석과 관련된 다양한 자료를 폭넓게 참고하였다. 그는 여러 서적을 분석하며 ｢하도｣와 ｢낙서｣가서로 체용을 이룬다는 점을 특히 강조하였다.
Abstract
This paper analyzes the diagrams and commentaries included in Chapter 3, Gyojeopyeon (巧著篇), of Yokhakdoseol (易學圖說) by Chang Hyǒn-kwang, examining the sources he consulted to understand his philosophical stance in the process of writing the text. Yokhakdoseol is a significant work that compiles interpretations of the I Ching (易經) along with various diagrammatic representations, reflecting the character and level of I Ching studies in late Joseon. At the same time, it serves as a valuable resource for understanding Chang’s philosophical thought. Through this study, I aim to clarify the key I Ching sources of late Joseon and trace Chang Hyǒn-kwang’s intellectual origins. To this end, I analyze the specific texts he referenced, identifying elements that he either newly introduced or modified in Yokhakdoseol. Chang Hyǒn-kwang drew upon a wide range of materials, including the latest I Ching texts, commentaries on Yixue Qimeng (易學啓蒙), and various interpretations of the River Diagram (河圖) and Luo 【일반】 역학도설 권3 ｢교저편｣ 도상과 주석의 출처와 의의 ∙ 275 Writing (洛書). In particular, he emphasized the complementary relationship between the River Diagram and Luo Writing in his analysis of these diagrams.
