『장자변해』에서 그 저술 경위와 장자 비판

한원진의 『장자변해』에는 그 편제가 일정하지 않고 오자가 많으며, 『장자』 원문 없이 그 핵심 단어나 구절을 가지고 그 수양론적 특성을 성리학의 존재론으로 평가절하해서 설명ㆍ비판하는 문제가 있다. 그래서 그 저술 경위와 함께 그 비판 내용을 분석해 봄으로써 그 원인을 규명하고자 하는 것이 본 논제의 목적이다. 그 연구방법은 먼저 『장자변해』에서 편제가 일정하지 않은 모든 부분과 모든 오자를 거론해서 분석하고, 이어 그 비판 내용을 지면이 허락하는 한 거의 모두 거론하며 고찰하는 것이다. 이상의 문제를 분석해서 고찰한 결과 결론적으로 그 원인은 『장자변해』가 한원진의 저술이 아니라 그의 『장자』 강의 수강자의 기록이기 때문이라는 것이다. 편제의 문제는 잘못 기록하거나 또 설명할 필요가 없는 단락의 누락 등으로 생긴 것이 있고, 또 단락 등을 나타내는 말이 다소 일정하지 않은 것은 한원진이 저술이 아니라 강의라서 그곳을 가리키는 말을 분명하게 통일해서 사용하지 못했기 때문이다. 글자의 문제도 수강자의 실수보다 한원진의 착각으로 핵심 단어나 구절 등의 위치를 잘못 가리킨 것들이 많으니, 역시 강의 기록이기 때문에 그런 문제가 생긴 것으로 보인다. 또 원문 없이 『장자』의 핵심 단어나 구절로 설명ㆍ비판하는 문제도 그것이 저술이 아니라 강의 기록이기 때문이라는 것이다. 곧 수강자는 한원진이 핵심 단어나 구절 등으로 설명할 곳을 가리키는 그대로 기록했을 뿐이라는 말이다. 다시 말해 강의 기록이라 굳이 그 원문까지 함께 모두 기록할 필요가 없었다는 것이다. 그 비판 내용은 한원진이 노론 골수의 성리학자답게 자신의 신념에 따라 ｢소요유｣를 제외하고 ｢제물론｣을 축으로 그 나머지를 부수적으로 하면서 이기론과 같은 성리학의 존재론으로 평가절하해서 『장자』를 설명하며 비판하는 것이다. 이상을 요약하면, 『장자변해』에 있는 몇 가지 문제는 그것이 한원진의 저술이 아니라 어쩌다가 그의 강의를 수강자가 기록했고, 한원진이 무슨 사정 때문인지 그 기록에 그 이상으로 관심을 두지 않았기 때문에 생겼다는 것이다. 그런데 이와 같은 결론은 『장자변해』의 가치를 떨어뜨리는 것이 아니다. 『장자변해』의 비판 내용으로 볼 때, 그는 최고의 성리학자라는 자신의 명성에 걸맞게 『장자』를 아주 논리적으로 정교하게 비판하기 때문이다. 이런 점에서 『장자변해』는 강의 내용의 기록일지라도 조선시대 특히 노론 계통의 노장사상 연구에 아주 더없이 중요한 자료라고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
The Critiques on the Thought of Zhuangz by Han Won-Jin has some problems: its organization is not constant; there are many misspellings; and it devalues its cultivational characteristics from the viewpoint of the ontology of Neo- Confucianism focusing on its key words or phrases without referring to the original text of Zhuangzi while explaining and criticizing it. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to investigate the cause of the criticism by analyzing the contents of the criticism along with the author's writing. The research method is to first analyze all the parts and all the typographical errors that are not consistent in the Critiques on the Thought of Zhuangzi, and then to consider the criticism as much as the paper permits. The cause of the above problems is that the Critiques on the Thought of Zhuangzi is not written by Han Won-jin himself, but it was the record of Han’s lectures written by Han’s student corded by Han’s student the record written by one of the students of his Zhuangzi lectures. Accordingly the writing features no constancy in organization, omission of some paragraphs or incorrect explanation, and irregular use of words that represent paragraphs. blem of the letter seems to be such a problem because And also some mistakes are made by the lecturer Han, because many things are made to misrepresent the position of the key word or phrase by Han himself in his lectures. In addition, the problem of explaining and criticizing Zhuangzi's key words or phrases without the original text is that it is not a writing, but a lecture record. In other words, the student just recorded where Han Won-Jin would explain with key words or phrases, It was a lecture record, so there was no need to record the original text together. The content of the criticism is that Han Won-Jin, as a neo-Confucian scholar of Noron's bone marrow, devalues himself as an ontology of Confucianism such as an explanation of Li Chi, Explaining. To sum up, some problems found in The Critiques on the Thought of Zhuangzi were not caused by Han Won-Jin's writing, but by the fact that his lecture was recorded by the student and Han did not pay more attention to the record for some reason. However, such a conclusion does not detract from the value of The Critiques on the Thought of Zhuangzi, because in view of its criticism, Zhuangzi is a very logical and sophisticated critic of his reputation as the best Neo-Confucian. In this regard, The Critiques on the Thought of Zhuangzi can be said to be a very important material for the study of the Lao-Jang thought of the Joseon dynasty, especially the Noron line, even if it is a record of the lectures.
