이 논문의 목적은 바부르가 남긴 자서전을 통해 그가 어떤 시각으로 16세기 인도를 바라보았는지를 문명교류적 관점에서 서술하는 것이다. 이를 위해 바부르가 저술한 『바부르나마』를 기저로 삼아 텍스트 분석을 연구 방법의 근간으로 설정했다. 인도에 대한 『바부르나마』의 서술은 사실적이고, 역사적이며, 당시 사회제도나 풍습 등에 대해 기록했기 때문에 언어·문화적으로도 중요한 의미가 있는다. 이에 그가 남긴 텍스트와 당대 문헌을 참고하여, 그의 주관적 서술을 객관적으로 서술하고자 하였다. 인도에 관한 바부르의 인식은 긍정과 부정이 혼재되어 있었다. 그는 때로는 종교의 관점으로 가지고, 때로는 정복자의 관점에서 서술했다. 그 서술에는 인도의 장점을 칭찬하기도, 때로는 인도의 단점을 서술하기도 하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe how Babur viewed India in the 16th century from the viewpoint of cultural exchange through his autobiography. To this end, the text analysis was set as the basis of the research method, based on Baburnama, written by Babur. Baburnama's description of India is realistic, historical, and has important linguistic and cultural significance by leaving a record of the social system and customs of the time. I tried to describe it objectively. Babur's perception of India was mixed with positive and negative. He described India not from a religious point of view, but from a conqueror's point of view, sometimes praising India's strengths and sometimes describing India's weaknesses.
