리더십과 자결적 주관성: 군사학적 접근방법을 중심으로

본 연구는 Q 방법론을 통해 군대조직사회의 구성원들이 바라보는 리더십의 다양한 견해에 대한 고유한 요인유형을 분석하였다. 한 가지 두드러지는 점은 연구결과가 과거 유교적인 성향에서 바라보는 지인용(智仁勇)의 리더십에 대한 일반론보다는 최근 다양한 분야에서 제기되고 있는 변혁적(變革的) 리더십에 대한 견해가 많다는 것이다. 특히 사회환경 변화에 능동적인 대응능력과 리더 개별적인 품성을 중시한다는 점에서 그리고 각각의 요인들에 대한 긍정적 합의와 부정적 합의가 공존한다는 점에서 응답자 개개인의 복합적인 시각이 반영되어 있다는 부분을 강조하였다. 철학적 기반이 다르고 문화적 가치가 상반되는 다양한 사회에서 리더십에 대한 연구가 일반적으로 가치 중심적인 분야에 중점을 두고 분석하고 있는 반면 본 연구는 서로 다른 문화적 특성과 가치체계의 다양성이 항상 내포되어 있다는 점을 강조한다. Q 방법론은 이러한 점에서 리더십 해석의 영역을 기존의 명목적인 덕목에 대한 주장보다는 개개인의 자결적 주관성을 바탕으로 그 영역의 확대를 제공해 주고 특정한 가치유형이 규명된 표층구조(表層構造)와 개개인의 의식구조에 잠재하고 있는 심층구조(深層構造)를 포괄하는 개개인의 고유한 주관성을 제시한다.
Abstract
This inquiry via the Q methodology analyzed a variety of factor types on the leadership perspectives operant in the military organization. Salient in the analysis was that more views on the transformational leadership recently raised in the various fields of society are shared than the Confucian values of knowledge, patience and courage leadership. Particularly, it underlined that both leaders’ positive responsive capabilities and individual personalities reflecting changes of social environment as well as positive and negative consensus on the each factor. Q methodology provides a special promise that makes for a more intelligible and rigorous understanding on the operant subjectivity as opposed to nominally asserted virtues of leadership. It suggests self-referential manifestations of individuals’ views of what leadership means to them including both surface and underneath layers in their perspectives.
