Abstract

This study aims to explore the subjective experience types of the alpha generation in their acceptance of virtual reality content. As a cohort that has embodied extended digital experiences shaped by the evolution of immersive environments, alpha individuals exhibit distinct identity and generational characteristics in their perception of digital media and patterns of interaction. Applying Q methodology, the study identifies three user types—Self-projected immerser, Goal-driven performer, and Interactive player—each reflecting differentiated psychological orientations such as emotional identification, instrumental learning, and interactive play. A total of 36 Q-sample statements representing diverse content types were developed, and 62 participants were selected to reflect balanced MBTI personality. The findings provide new insights into the nuanced patterns of VR engagement among alpha users and suggest theoretical and practical implications for segmented content design, strategic communication, and policy development tailored to the evolving characteristics of this emerging generation.
