교육학의 정체성 논의와 교육철학의 과제

이 연구는 한국에서 교육학의 정체성에 관한 논의가 어떻게 전개되어왔는지 살펴보고, 교육학의 전문화․세분화 경향에 따른 교육철학의 과제를 생각해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국교육학회 학회지인 「교육학연구」, 「한국교육학회 학술대회 자료집」에 실린 관련 논문을 중심으로 교육학 정체성 논의의 주요 내용을 살펴보고, 교육철학의 과제를 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 교육철학은 개별교육학들이 주변 학문과의 관계를 강화하면서 발전해 가는 경향에 비추어 개별교육학들이 공동의 목표와 책임을 상기하도록 하는 과제를 고민해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 교육철학은 학문 간 융합 연구가 증가하는 경향에 직면해서 교육학적인 관점이 무엇인지를 고민하여야 할 것이다. 셋째, 교육철학자들은 자신의 학문이론적 정체성의 토대 위에서 구축된 교육철학의 시각에서 교육학자들이 공유할 수 있는 교육학의 체계를 구상하고 발전시켜 나가는 일, 자신의 교육철학적 시각에서 교육문제에 접근하고 열린 자세로 논의하려는 노력이 필요할 것이다. 넷째, 교육학 개론은 교육학 전공 학생들이 교육학의 철학 정신을 공부할 수 있는 최적의 과목으로 교육철학자들은 개별교육학들이 구획을 넘어 소통 가능한 공통적인 범주와 교육학의 체계를 자신의 학문이론적 색깔과 교육철학의 토대 위에서 다룸으로써 하나의 교육학 개론이 아닌 다양한 학문적 특성을 가진 교육학 개론들이 가능할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study explored how the debate on the identity of pedagogy has developed in Korea and considers the tasks of educational philosophy in response to the trend of specialization and segmentation in pedagogy. To achieve this purpose, we examined the main contents of the discussion on educational identity by focusing on related papers published in the journals of the Korean Educational Research Association, “Educational Research” and “Proceedings of the Korean Educational Research Association Conference,” and presented the following tasks for educational philosophy. First, educational philosophy should consider the task of reminding educational disciplines of their common goals and responsibilities, taking into account the tendency for each educational discipline to develop while strengthening its relationship with surrounding disciplines. Second, educational philosophy should consider whether it is a pedagogical perspective in the face of the increasing trend of interdisciplinary research. Third, educational philosophers need to work on conceptualizing and developing a system of pedagogy that can be shared by educators from the perspective of educational philosophy built on the foundation of their own academic theoretical identity, and need to approach educational issues from their own educational philosophy perspective and make efforts to discuss them with an open attitude. Fourth, Introduction to Education is the best subject for education majors to study the philosophical spirit of education. Philosophers of education should deal with common categories and educational systems that allow individual education studies to communicate beyond their boundaries, based on their own academic theoretical colors and educational philosophies, so that Introduction to Education courses with diverse academic characteristics, rather than the same one, are possible.
