본고의 목적은 세계관 확장의 방식을 탐구하고 이를 활용한 서사 창작활동을 제안한 후, 학교 현장에서 그 활동 양상을 논의하는 것이다. 먼저, 세계관 확장 방식은 팽창, 구체화, 상세화, 정선으로 탐구했고, 이를 활용한 서사 창작활동 활동은 ‘서사 요소의 전경화’, ‘시공간적 배경 요소 초점화와 확장 방식 선택’, ‘확장된 세계관 속 인물 배치와 사건 구성’으로 논구했다. 이들 방식과 활동에 따라 초등학교급 2개 학급과 고등학교 문예창작동아리에서 관련 활동을 실천 적용했다. 그 결과 “감상과 창작의 연계”, “세계관에 대한 자아의 협력적 응전”, “화자로서의 소임 수행”이라는 양상이 나타남을 확인했다. 본고는 학습자가 서사 요소의 균형 있는 취급을 통해 사회적 존재로서 자아확립에 이를 수 있는 서사 창작활동을 설계하고, 적용 및 확인했다는 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore principles of fictional universe expansion, propose activities of narrative creation activity based on them, and examine their application in schools. The expansion principles—inflation, materializing, detailing, and selection—informed the following activities: ‘foregrounding narrative elements’, ‘focusing on chronotopic elements and selecting appropriate expansion principles’, and ‘composing characters and events within the expanded fictional universe.’ These were applied in two elementary classes and a high school creative writing club. As a result, the following patterns emerged: “couple between appreciation and creation”, “collaborative response of the self to the fictional universe,” and “performing the role as a narrator.” This study is significant in designing, applying, and verifying a narrative creation activity that fosters learners’ identity as social beings through balanced engagement with narrative elements.
