Abstract
This study is to search whether Korean public social expenditures is appropriate level. It compares Korean public social expenditure level with those of 23 countries in OECD. As a result of regression analysis, the level of Korean public social expenditure in 2003 is much short of the average of OECD-24. Nonetheless, considering Korean socio-economic conditions, such as low GDP, low tax burden, immature pension system, Korean public social expenditure in 2003 is not significantly lower than maximum likely expected level. This finding leads to a simulation that the Korean public social expenditure will keep growing in foreseeable future.
