Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine Judo, which has engendered a lot of controversy. In particular, this research examines judo from the perspective of martial arts styles in the East Asian countries: Korea, China, and Japan. in a point of historical anthropology. Commonly, Judo originated from the ancient Japanese art of jujutsu(柔術), a system of hand-to-hand combat. The bushi of feudal Japan (samurai) are usually credited with developing jujutsu (at their time the art was known as Yoroi kumi-uchi, a grappling method for fighters fully clad in Japanese armor). However, considering Asian life and culture style in China and Korea in a point of anthropology, judo cannot be regarded as an independent style. Therefore, judo and jujutsu should be regarded as a composite motion being inherent in east asian culture. Research has been done in Korea to find the root of Judo, but nothing has been proven conclusively. Hence we need to constantly distinguish right from wrong, and to model appropriate study. I'll consider the following subjects. First, The judo's motions are similar when compared to the Chinese wrestling style, Solgyo(摔跤), in the Chung Dynasty, I think that the two arts may have had the same root. Second, based on historical material from the Chosun dynasty, the team competition held during Japanese holidays, which has been assumed to be jujutsu(柔術), may be closely related to Shibak(廝撲) in Korea. I think, this competitive motions may have been shared by Japanese and Korean martial arts.
