본 연구는 서울시를 대상으로 반려견 양육에 영향을 미치는 지역환경 특성을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 2022 서울서베이 자료를 활용해 개인·가구 특성, 지역환경 만족도, 물리적 환경 특성, 반려동물 관련시설 접근성이 반려견 양육에 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 다수준 분석을 시행하였다. 개인 수준(1수준) 중에서 개인·가구 특성(성별, 교육수준, 주택 형태, 주거점유 형태, 직업 유무, 가구당 월 평균 소득), 지역환경 만족도(녹지환경 만족도, 문화활동 만족도)가 반려견 양육에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 지역 수준(2수준) 중에서 물리적 환경 특성(오픈스페이스 접근성, 산책로 접근성), 반려동물 관련시설 접근성(반려동물 동반 가능 시설 접근성, 반려동물 관련 편의시설 접근성)이 반려견 양육에 주요한 요인으로 작용함을 보여주었다. 개인·가구 특성뿐만 아니라 지역환경 특성이 반려견 양육과 유의한 관련이 있음을 보여줌으로써, 향후 국토 및 도시계획에서 반려동물 친화적인 환경 조성을 위한 공간 계획 기준 마련에 정책적 시사점을 제시함에 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the local environment that influence dog ownership in Seoul. Using data from the 2022 Seoul Survey, a multilevel analysis was conducted to examine whether individual and household characteristics, satisfaction with the local environment, physical environmental features, and accessibility to pet-related facilities affect dog ownership. At the individual level (Level 1), factors such as individual and household characteristics (gender, educational attainment, housing type, Housing occupancy type, employment status, and average monthly household income) and satisfaction with the local environment (satisfaction with green spaces and cultural activities) were found to significantly influence dog ownership. At the regional level (Level 2), physical environmental features (accessibility to open spaces and walking trails) and Accessibility to pet-related facilities (accessibility to pet-friendly facilities and pet convenience facilities) were identified as major contributing factors. The findings highlight that not only individual and household characteristics but also local environmental factors are significantly associated with dog ownership. This study provides policy implications by emphasizing the need to establish spatial planning standards for pet-friendly environments in future national and urban planning.
