본고에서는 다문화 시대를 다룬 소설과 영화 ‘완득이’를 텍스트로 하여 다문화시대의 독서 교육에 대해 고찰하였다. 다문화 시대 독서 교육의 목표를 다문화문식성－사회문화적 문식성과 비판적 문식성－신장으로 설정하여 그 개념을 살펴보았고 다문화 텍스트로 선정된 ‘완득이’가 가지는 다문화성에 대해서도 논의하였다. 사회문화적 어휘 학습과 맥락 이해를 통해 주류와 다문화 집단의 사회와 문화를 함께 파악하는 것이 사회문화적 문식성 활동이고 다문화 사회의 갈등을 비판적으로 인식하여 편향된 사고를 개선하고 이를 실천하도록 하는 것이 비판적문식성 활동이다. ‘완득이’는 인물, 배경적 측면에서 다문화성을 가지고 다문화시대의 갈등을 드러내어 학습자로 하여금 다문화 사회에서의 문제점에 대해 비판적으로 인식하게 하는 텍스트로 평가되어 다문화 텍스트로 선정되었다. 소설과영화 ‘완득이’ 텍스트를 분석하여 전술된 사회문화적, 비판적 문식성 신장 활동이실제 어떻게 이루어질 수 있는지를 밝혔다.
Abstract
This article aims to research about the reading education withliterature texts. The objects of reading education in multicultural erais set as sociocultural literacy and critical literacy acquisition. Thedefinition of those multicultural literacy is searched. The multiculturalcharacteristics of ‘Wandeuki’ is also discussed. Sociocultural literacyis definded as understanding the society and culture of both themainstream and minority and critical literacy is defined as recognizingthe conflicts of multicultural society, making an improvement inthinking, and acting toward the right direction. ‘Wandeuki’ is selected as multicul texts because it has multiculturalcharacteristics in terms of characters and backgrounds and makesstudents think critically. Sociocultural literacy and critical literacyteaching methods are shown while analyzing the novel and movie‘Wandeuki’.
