임재욱, 2025, 『삼국유사』 설화 <김현감호>와 프랑스 동화 <미녀와 야수>의 친연성과 ‘희생형 인수 교섭담’, 어문연구, 208 : 163~195 <김현감호>와 <미녀와야수>는 세부 내용에서 다양한 차이점이 있기도 하지만, ‘변신 모티프’, ‘선악대비’, ‘죄와벌’, ‘가족구성’, ‘남성의 구애와 여성의 거부’, ‘약자희생’, ‘인수교섭’, ‘여성 주인공의 대의를 위한 희생과 주체성’, ‘대화에 드러나는 여주인공의 지혜와 조리, 용기와 강인함’, ‘죽임의 벌과 그 계기 및 해결 방식’ 등의 측면에서 공통점이 드러나기 때문에 서로 친연성이 높은 관계에 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이 두 작품을 ‘사람과 동물의 교섭’과 ‘변신 모티프’를 공통적으로 지니고 있는 다른 작품과 비교해 보면, 그리스·로마 신화 <에로스와 프시케>, 한국의 민담 <구렁덩덩신선비> 등에는 ‘사라진 남편을 찾아 떠나면서 여주인공이 겪는 시련’ 모티프가 부각되는 것과 달리, 이 두 작품과『보한집』의 <虎僧> 등에는 ‘주인공의 희생’ 모티프가 강조되어 나타나기 때문에, 이러한 이야기를 아우르는 개념으로 ‘희생형 인수 교섭담’이라는 용어를 사용할 필요가 있다. <김현감호>는 이 부류의 대표작에 해당하면서 동시에 세계적 보편성을 지닌 작품이라는 점에서 문학사적 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
Although “Kim Hyeon Gam Ho” (Kim Hyeon and the Tigress) in Samguk Yusa and Beauty and the Beast differ in their specific details, they can be viewed as having a high degree of affinity due to their shared commonalities in aspects such as the ‘transformation motif,’ ‘contrast between good and evil,’ ‘crime and punishment,’ ‘family structure,’ ‘male courtship and female rejection,’ ‘sacrifice of the weak,’ ‘human-beast interaction,’ ‘the female protagonist’s self-sacrifice for a greater cause and her agency,’ ‘the wisdom, logic, courage, and resilience revealed in the heroine’s dialogue,’ and ‘punishment by death, including its triggers and resolution methods.’ When comparing these two works with other stories that share the ‘human-beast interaction’ and ‘transformation motif,’ a distinction emerges. Unlike the Greek and Roman myth Eros and Psyche or the Korean folktale “Gureong Deng Deng Shin Seonbi” (The Snake Husband), which highlight the motif of ‘trials endured by the heroine while searching for her vanished husband,’ these two works emphasize the ‘sacrifice of the protagonist.’ Consequently, it is necessary to employ the term “Sacrificial Human-Beast Interaction Tales” as a concept to encompass these stories. “Kim Hyeon Gam Ho” holds significant value in literary history, as it serves as a representative work of this category while simultaneously possessing universal qualities.
