Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine effective multimodal interaction design methods for voice agent in the context of non-driving related task and turn-over request on the level 4 autonomous driving environment. In the experimental design, we tested the main and interaction effects of the voice interface with the shared-situation representation and visual interface with the anthropomorphic behavior on the user experience. The results showed positive impacts in the voice interface with the shared-situation representation condition on all UX variables, such as perceived interactivity, trust, perceived safety, and context awareness. There was no significant effect of the visual interface with the anthropomorphic behavior condition. However, there was an interaction effect on the trust and perceived safety in the multimodal condition of voice and visual interfaces.
