코로나19 팬데믹이 인문학과 예술에 남긴 과제는?: 문제의 도출과 해결의 모색에 대한 시론

Abstract

Now, no place in the global village is free from the pandemic of COVID-19. This phenomenon is the first event that mankind has experienced since history. In the early days of the outbreak of COVID-19, quarantine and vaccination were the main concerns. This is because the spread of COVID-19 had to be prevented in a hurry and deaths were lowered. For this reason, the “scientific and medical approach” was emphasized. However, as quarantine and vaccination progressed, various problems were raised. “What should be done about the degree of quarantine?” “Is blockade the only way?” “Who inoculates first?” “Can vaccination be mandatory?” These issues are closely linked to human rights issues, including freedom. Therefore, COVID-19 requires a “philosophical and ideological approach.” In this article, I would like to reflect on various issues raised due to the pandemic phenomenon of COVID-19 at the humanities level. In addition, I would like to examine the characteristics of East Asia in the process of responding to COVID-19.
