This study reports the court dress styles shown at the scene of the royal banquet given by the King Yeong-Jo(英祖) at Myeong-jeongj-eon(明政殿) in 1743. It can be summarized as follows: First, King Yeong-jo attending the royal banquet for his 50th birthday ceremony wore the Ikseonkwan(翼善冠), the red Gollyongpo(袞龍袍), Okdae(玉帶), and Heukpiwha(黑皮靴). The Crown Prince(王世子) also wore the Ikseonkwan, the black Goliyongpo, Okdae, and Heukpiwha. Second, the royal family members and officers in the ceremony wore Samo(紗帽), Heukdallyeong(黑團領) with a crane rank tablet or a silver pheasant belt, and black boots. Third, Sakum(司禁) of the king's body guards wore Yungbok(戎服) and Muyaebyulgam(武藝別監) wore Ja-geon(紫巾) and the green Jikryeong(直領). Ui-jang-gun(儀仗軍) wore Pirip(皮笠) and Hong-ui(紅衣), Haengjeon(行纏), and Unhae(雲鞋). Yeonbaegun(輦陪軍) wore Hong-geon(紅巾), Hong-ui(紅衣), Cheong-haengjeon(靑行纏), Unhae(雲鞋). Fourth, Jeon-ak(典樂) wore Morabokdu(帽羅幞頭) and Nokchoui(綠綃衣), and Ak-kong(樂工) wore Whawhabokdu(畵花幞頭), Hongju-ui(紅紬衣), Ojungdae(烏鞓帶), and Heukpiwha(黑皮靴). Hyeopryulrang(協律郞) wore Samo and Heukdallyeong. Boy dancers(舞童) wore Wha-kwan(花冠), Kwan-bok(冠服), Jungdan(中單), skirt, belt, and black boots.
Abstract
This study reports the court dress styles shown at the scene of the royal banquet given by the King Yeong-Jo(英祖) at Myeong-jeongj-eon(明政殿) in 1743.
