Abstract

As people are getting more interested in Chinese characters rating examination and the entities supervising it grow, it becomes necessary for each executing organizations to look over the method and scope of the examination. The Chinese characters rating examination defines allocated Chinese characters by rate, but the ratings are so subdivided and do not present definite grounds for dividing the scope of Chinese characters. And the allocated Chinese characters by rated score are inconsistent, and those with remarkable rating differences of the allocated Chinese characters are found out. To solve this problem in the range of Chinese characters by this rating, basic works such as frequency survey on routine life vocabularies should be preceded, and a social consensus on the allocated Chinese characters should be formed. In case of the assessment, it is short of the assessment related to using language in real life and is inclined to writing in reading and meaning sounds of Chinese characters. Also it assesses how many Chinese characters are written in memory, and easily turns to be an assessment focused on learning by heart. To improve Chinese characters rating examination, one should resolve the problem of allocating Chinese characters by rating and develop various assessment items in the direction of learning and using knowledge in real life, breaking away from an excessively uniform question type.
