초록

This study examined features relating to the production of Japanese accents in nonsense words and meaningful words by Korean Japanese learners. Japanese words with three to five morae were used as the study materials. The participants in this study comprised 10-14 Korean Japanese learners in their 20s, all of whom had Seoul dialects. The results of the production experiment indicated that Korean Japanese learners (tend to pronounce words containing morae with flat pitch accent; such learners have a narrow pitch range. Moreover, Korean Japanese learners tend to pronounce nonsense words with almost flat pitch. The percentage of flat pitch pattern in the production experiment was 55.5% in meaning words and 63.2% in nonsense words. Three or four types of Japanese pitch accent production by Korean Japanese learners were observed. First, there is no word initial pitch rising and pitch gradually falls toward word final. Second, there is minimal word initial pitch rising and pitch falls toward word final (pattern of Yama-gata). Third, the flat pitch pattern has no word initial pitch rising and has high-level not falling pitch at word final.
