In this study we have investigated how many Sino-Japanese compound words may have entered into Korean through the examination of the DahanHakhoi Wolbo(1908) magazine, in order to determine the extent of Japanese vocabulary penetration and expansion into Korean at the beginning of the 20th century. As a result, we have found that articles from the Japanese newspapers of the time were translated in the Foreign News column, and thereby a large number Japanese words were used. We have thereby shown the importance of the DahanHakhoi Wolbo magazine as an intermediary in the transplantation of Japanese words into Korean.
