Abstract
This study analyzed pronunciation errors of beginner Chinese learners using NAVER's CLOVA Note, an AI-based speech recognition system, to establish instructional priorities for beginner-level Korean pronunciation education. Eleven beginner Chinese learners (TOPIK Level 1) read 82 sentences selected from standard Korean textbooks. Speech data were transcribed using CLOVA Note and cross-validated by two researchers. A total of 234 pronunciation errors were categorized into five types based on phonological features. Results revealed that consonant errors constituted the highest proportion (44.9%), followed by syllable-final consonant errors (18.4%), miscellaneous errors (14.5%), vowel errors (13.7%), and Korean /ㄹ/ errors (8.5%). This study demonstrates that AI speech recognition, combined with expert validation, enhances objectivity and efficiency in pronunciation error analysis. The results provide empirical evidence for designing data-driven, intelligibility-based pronunciation curricula for beginner Chinese learners of Korean.
