Abstract
In this paper, we document the phenomenon of short-term reversals is pronounced ahead of earnings announcement in Korean stock market. Our main empirical findings in this paper are as follows. First, consistent to the paper in So and Wang (2014) that studies return reversals in US stock market, we only find significant return reversals ahead of earnings announcement and we find no evidence of return reversals in other periods Second, liquidity providers hesitate to provide liquidity because of the inventory risk, rather than adverse selection risk. Third, the decline in liquidity supply ahead of earnings announcement occurs because individual investors, who act as liquidity providers, avoid trading.
