본 연구는 청년세대의 상대적 박탈이 사회적 이슈로 떠오르고 있음에도 불구하고 관련된 사회적 논의와 학문적 연구가 제대로 이루어지지 못하고 있다는 비판에 기반하고 있다. 이에 20~30대 청년을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사로 데이터를 수집하여 위계적 회귀분석방법으로 청년세대의 상대적 박탈감에 영향을 주는 요인을 파악하였다. 연구 결과 및 논의를 다음과 같이 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 한국 사회의 청년세대는 분배의 불공정성에 기반해 상대적 박탈감을 체감하는 것으로 나타났다. 사회적 환경과 맞물려 더욱 두드러지게 나타나는 분배공정성의 특성상, 공정하지 못한 분배구조로 인해 피해를 받고 있다는 청년세대의 상대적 박탈감 인식은 일면 당연한 모습으로 해석된다. 둘째, 평등에 대한 인식이 분배공정성과 결합한 상호작용의 효과로 상대적 박탈감을 낮추는 요인으로 작용함을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 결과는 사회적 평등이 공정성을 강화시키는 요소로 작용할 수 있음을 보여줌과 동시에 공정성의 다차원적 요인에 평등이 포함될 수 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 결론적으로, 사회적 자원에 대한 접근의 평등과 공정함을 제도로 보장하고 공평한 자원 분배 정책 등이 최우선의 청년정책으로 마련되어져야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study is based on the criticism that the relative deprivation of the youth generation has not been adequately addressed in social discussions and academic research despite its emergence as a social issue. First, we found that young adults in Korean society experience a sense of relative deprivation based on the unfairness of distribution. Given the nature of distributional fairness, which is more pronounced in conjunction with the social environment, the perception of relative deprivation among young adults that they are being harmed by unfair distributional structures is interpreted as natural. Second, we find that perceptions of equality, in combination with distributive fairness, have an interactive effect to reduce relative deprivation. These results show that social equality can act as a reinforcing factor for fairness, but also show that equality can be included in the multidimensional dimension of fairness. In conclusion, it is necessary to ensure equality and fairness in access to social resources and equitable resource distribution policies should be prioritized as youth policies.
