초록

This study investigates the mechanical properties and applicability of PET Felt as a sustainable lightweight material for automotive undercovers. PET Felt is a single material made up of PET fibers, offering advantages in acoustic absorption, formability, weight reduction, and recyclability. To evaluate the mechanical reliability of PET Felt under different conditions, tensile tests were performed. The tensile tests were conducted by varying four main factors: temperature(15-200℃), thickness(2.0-3.0 mm), and the recycling rate(25-100%). The results indicate that PET Felt exhibits a significant reduction in modulus and yield strength above 75℃, whereas it maintains stable mechanical performance between 15 and 50℃, ensuring durability under typical service conditions. Specimens with 3.0 mm thickness showed a 30-40% decrease in stiffness and strength compared to thinner ones(2.0 mm and 2.5 mm specimens). The effect of strain rate was minor, with tensile properties varying within ±7%, suggesting that PET Felt is relatively insensitive to forming speed variations. In addition, even with 100% recycled PET Felt, the material maintained reliable tensile performance, confirming its suitability for closed-loop recycling applications.
