본 연구는 지역·문화적인 관점에서 생성형 AI를 이용한 디자인 창작의 동향을 살펴보고, 발생할 수 있는 디자인윤리 문제를 진단한다. 지역적 특성과 문화가 AI와 디자인에 미치는 영향을 사례분석하며, 시사점과 보완점을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. AI 기술이 나날이 발전하는 과정에서 생기는 문화적·윤리적·법적인 공백을 데이터의 편향성과 저작권 침해의 두 가지 방면에서 고찰하였다. 연구 결과, AI의 학습 데이터에 내제된 특정 고정관념이 디자인에 편향적으로 반영되는 것이 관찰되었으며, 저작권에 대한 국제적 법률이 제정되지 않아 각 국가 간의 대처방식이나 정도에 차이가 있음을 발견했다. AI를 활용한 디자인의 편향성 문제로는, ‘인종차별’, ‘문화에 따른 사회적 역할 및 고정관념의 강화’, ‘특정 문화권에 편향된 디자인 생성’이 있다. AI와 디자인의 저작권 문제로는, ‘인공지능 창작물의 저작권 인정 범위 논란’과 ‘무분별한 데이터세트 수집’이 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 문화의 다양성을 고려해 AI 디자인 윤리로 포용성과 공정성을 중시해야 하며, AI 디자인에 대한 사회적 책임 소재를 명확히 하고, 윤리적 디자인 원칙을 세워야 한다. 본 연구가 AI를 활용한 디자인의 글로벌 동향 파악 및 지역·문화적 관점에서의 AI와 디자인 윤리 문제를 자각할 수 있는 참고자료로 사용되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This study examines trends in design creation using generative AI from regional and cultural perspectives, diagnosing potential ethical issues in design. It aims to analyze the impact of regional characteristics and culture on AI and design through case studies, presenting implications and areas for improvement. The study addresses cultural, ethical, and legal gaps emerging as AI technology advances, focusing on two main aspects: data bias and copyright infringement. Findings indicate that specific stereotypes embedded in AI training data are reflected in design biases. Additionally, the absence of international copyright laws has led to varying responses and degrees of enforcement among different countries. Bias issues in AI-generated design include racial discrimination, reinforcement of social roles and stereotypes based on culture, and generation of designs biased towards specific cultural regions. Copyright issues in AI and design involve controversies over the recognition scope of copyrights for AI creations and indiscriminate data set collection. Addressing these issues requires prioritizing inclusivity and fairness in AI design ethics by considering cultural diversity, clarifying social responsibility for AI design, and establishing ethical design principles. This study aims to serve as a reference for understanding global trends in AI-utilized design and recognizing AI and design ethical issues from regional and cultural perspectives.
