초록
This study examined the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of the Jeju Island Tangerine, or Cheonhyehyang branch, hot distilled water extracts (CHD) and 70% ethanol extracts (CHE) to verify their usability as a natural health product. It was confirmed that the electron donating ability and 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging ability of both CHD and CHE increased in a concentration-dependent manner. A concentration range in which cell viability was over 90% was established through the analysis of 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)- 2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide using RAW 264.7 cells. Thereafter, as a result of measuring nitric oxide (NO) inhibitory activity, at 100 μg/mL, CHD and CHE were confirmed to have NO inhibitory effects of 6.42% and 17.11%, respectively as compared to the lipopolysaccharide alone treatment group. Protein expression of inflammation-related factors, such as inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2, was shown to decrease in a concentration- dependent manner. Therefore, it is confirmed that the Cheonhyehyang branch has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and should be considered valuable as a natural health product.
