초록
This paper shares the view that i/ka-marked NPs are involved with specification with previous studies. Yet, the new claim of this paper is that the specification associated with the i/ka marker in Korean is not exclusive, selective, or unique but contextual in the sense that the specified object is not confined to the referent of the NP marked with i/ka but broadly applies to the general context evoked by the sentence where the i/ka marker is used. Furthermore, this paper argues that the contextual specification elicited by the i/ka marker is generated and constrained by the Qualia Structure. Thus, i/ka-marked NPs open up the possibility of adding pragmatically-enriched information which is largely selected by the Telic Quale, Formal Quale, Constitutive Quale, and Agentive Quale. Yet, this paper also notes that the generative constraint depending on the Qualia Structure is possible when the Qualia Structure is construed in a broad sense.
