본 연구는 개인의 기부행동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 사회적 자본(social capital)과 지역환경 요인에 초점을 맞춰 살펴보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 개인 수준과 지역사회 수준의 영향력을 보다 정교하게 규명하기 위해 다수준(multi-level) 분석방법을 활용하였다. 개인수준 자료는 2010년 수원시 욕구조사 자료를 사용하였다. 총 20개 동에 거주하는 700명을 대상으로 방문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 664부가 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 지역사회 수준 자료는 선정된 20개 동의저소득층과 취약계층의 인구 비율 그리고 사회복지관련 시설수를 수집하여 활용하였다. 연구결과, 사회적 자본은 개인의 기부금액과 기부참여에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 지역환경 요인에서 저소득층 비율은 기부참여와 기부금액에 정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 취약계층 비율은 기부참여와 기부금액에 모두 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타나, 개인의 기부행동이 노인, 장애인과 같은 인구집단보다는 저소득층 인구집단에 의해더 많이 야기될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 사회복지관련 시설수는 기부금액에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 사회복지관련 시설이 적은 동에 거주하는 주민일수록 더 많은 금액을 기부하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 개인의 기부행동을 강화시키기 위해서는 첫째, 지역주민이 지역사회에 갖는 사회적 자본 의식을 향상시키고 둘째, 개인의 기부행동을 설명하는데 지역환경적 요인이 중요한 변수임을 감안하여, 지역환경적 요인을 고려하여 잠재적 기부자를 분석하고 전략적인 모금계획 수립할 수 있도록 모금전문가 교육과정 커리큘럼에 반영하며 셋째, 지역주민을 후원자로 개발하기 위해 기관특성에 맞는 온라인 플랫폼이나 스마트 콘텐츠와 같은 현대적인 방법 및 지역 내 주민 조직의 나눔문화 확산 등을 모색할 필요성이 있음을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the factors which affect the donation efforts based on the factors of social capital and community environment. The multi-level analysis was employed to examine more precisely the effects of individual and community level factors on the behavior of donation. The individual level data were collected from the 2010 needs assessment survey of Suwonsi. 700 residents were selected from 20 dongs and a total of 664 were finally used in this study. The community level data were collected from social indicators of Suwon-si and were measured by the percentages of low-income and vulnerable populations and the number of social welfare facilities of 20 dongs selected. This study found that social capital of the individual level had a positive effect on the amount of donation and participation. On the community level, the percentage of low-income populations had a positive effect on the amount of donation and participation. This showed that the amount of donation and participation may be affected by the low-income population rather than the disadvantaged population such as the elderly and the disabled. But the number of social welfare facilities had a negative effect on the amount of donation. That is, the residents who lived the dong with the fewer number of social welfare facilities were more likely to make a donation. Suggestions were made. First, community should improve an environment which can facilitate social capital among community residents. Second, based on the significance of community-level variables for the individual’s donating activities, various methods of mobilizing and facilitating donation efforts should be developed in communities: targeting the potential donors and developing training programs for professional fund-raisers. Third, the diverse ways of facilitating donations among the community residents should be considered: developing the up-do-date ways including the online platform and smart contents, and expanding the philanthropic culture among the voluntarily neighborhood organizations.
