북한 주민의 감정사회화 경험 연구: 사상감정의 수용과 결과를 중심으로

이 연구는 북한당국이 규범적이고 공적 감정으로 제시하는 사상감정의 수용과 결과를 중심으로 북한 주민의 감정사회화 경험을 탐색하려는 것이다. 이를 위해 출생 시기, 성분, 출신 지역이 다른 세 명의 북한이탈주민을 대상으로 질적사례연구를 진행했다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 연구참여자들은 사상감정의 핵심 감정인 충성심에 대한 동의와 그에 따르는 순응 행위, 충성 행위의 동기, 고난의 행군 이후 사상감정의 수용에 있어 차이를 보이며 감정사회화 경험이 다르게 나타났다. 동시에 공적 감정을 우선하면서 사적 감정의 미분화와 탈구라는 감정 세계의 특징을 나타내고 외부 적대세력에 대한 두려움과 공포로 수령에 대한 감정적 연대를 보이며 충성심이 체제 순응 기제로 작용하는 유사성을 보였다. 연구 결과 연구참여자들이 태어나고 자란 사회경제적 환경과 성분 차이에 따라 감정사회화 경험에 차이를 보였다. 그럼에도 이들의 감정사회화 경험이 유사하게 나타난 것은 당국이 주도하는 감정사회화를 겪은 결과이며 북한당국이라는 감정 권력의 통치 산물이라 하겠다. 이 연구는 북한당국의 감정 기획이 주민의 삶 속에 어떻게 작용, 어떤 양상으로 나타났는지를 밝힌 작업이라는 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study aimed to explore the emotional socialization experiences of North Koreans, focusing on the acceptance and consequences of ideological emotions presented by the North Korean authorities as normative emotions. To this end, qualitative case study research was conducted with three North Korean defectors who differed in birth date, family background, and region of birth. The results are as follows: The emotional socialization experiences of the research participants varied, showing differences in their agreement with loyalty as a core ideological emotion, their subsequent acts of conformity, motivations for loyal actions, and acceptance of ideological emotions following the March of Hardship. At the same time, they exhibited similarities in their emotional socialization experiences, including the suppression and blurring of personal emotions in favor of public emotions, emotional solidarity with the leader due to fear toward external antagonists, and loyalty as a mechanism for regime conformity. The findings suggest that the participants’ emotional socialization experiences differed depending on the socio-economic environment and family background in which they were born and raised. Nevertheless, the similarities in their experiences of emotional socialization can be seen as a result of undergoing emotional socialization led by North Korean authorities and as a product of governance by the emotional power exercised by the North Korean authorities. This study is significant because it reveals how the emotional planning of the North Korean authorities operates in the lives of its citizens.
