북한체제 유지의 주된 요인은 전체주의의 물리적 제제이나 본 연구는 체제유지에 대한 사회심리적 고찰을 시도하였다. 기존의 정치사회화 연구는 북한체제 변화를 역동적으로 설명하지 못하고 있다. 그 이유는 북한주민의 자발성을 간과하고 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 마취(March)와 올센(Olsen)의 신제도주의적 관점으로 북한주민의 체제와 정치적 결합과 분리를 고찰하였다. 경제난으로 배급이 어려운 가운데에도 체제유지에 기여하는 북한주민에게서 과잉사회화를 볼 수 있다. 북한의 특수한 사회통제, 사회주의배급경제, 정치사회화의 결과라 할 수 있다. 이러한 환경요인으로 북한주민의 체제와 정치적 결합이 발생하였고 집단주의 소속감, 안전, 생존을 보장받았으며 체제유지에 자발적으로 기여하였다. 그러나 북한주민이 체제와 정치적 분리시 분리불안이 나타나는 것으로 조사되었다. 그러므로 과잉사회화 된 주민의 심리적요인이 북한체제유지에 기여한다고 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
Though a major factor of sustenance of North Korea system is totalitarian and physical penalties against its inhabitants, this study attempts to employ a new socio-psychological approach. Current political socialization methodologies are not enough to explain dynamically all the transformations of North Korea system. The reason is they overlook the voluntariness of the inhabitants. This study looks into North Korea inhabitants' political affiliation and separation, to and from the system through the eyes of the inhabitants separated from the system, by employing March and Olsen's New Institutionalism. We can point to oversocialization from the fact the inhabitants still support the system in spite of its inability to provide food supplies, and the oversocialization must have been resulted from social control, socialistic distribution economy and political socialization, specific in North Korea. From the oversocialized environment arose the inhabitants' political affiliation to the system, which naturally resulted into collectivistic sense of belonging, security and survival of the inhabitants, who in turn contributed voluntarily to the sustenance of the system. In consequence, the inhabitants should have consciousness of separation anxiety even after they were separated from the system politically. Therefore, we can conclude the psychological factors of the oversocialized inhabitants have contributed to the sustenance of the system.
