언해본 『삼강행실도』 역주 방법론의 발전적 모색―《충신도》를 중심으로―

행실도류는 백성 교화의 목적을 지닌 텍스트로서 다른 한글 문헌과는 구성적⋅내용적 특징에 차이가 있으며, 따라서 역주 방법에도 차별화되는 접근이 요구된다. 선행 연구에서 제시된, 의역된 현대어역을 직역과 함께 제시하거나 그림을 이야기의 순서대로 분절하여 제시하는 등의 행실도류 역주 방법론에 더하여 본 연구에서는 독자를 고려한 행실도류의 역주 방법론을 발전적으로 모색하였다. 특히 『삼강행실도』 《충신도》는 이야기의 배경이 지나치게 압축되어 있어 배경지식 없이는 맥락을 파악하기 어려운 특징을 지닌다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 특징을 고려하여 독자가 이야기의 배경 및 맥락을 이해하는 데 도움을 주는 역주 구성으로 ‘이야기 맥락 읽기’와 ‘인물 관계도’, ‘이야기 속으로’를 새롭게 포함하여 발전된 역주 방법론을 제안하였다. 이러한 역주 방법론은 행실도류 이외의 다른 문헌에도 적용될 수 있는데, 본 연구에서는 『종덕신편언해』를 대상으로 역주 방법론을 적용하여 예를 보였다.
Abstract
Haengsildo texts are designed for the moral edification of the people and exhibit unique characteristics compared to other Hangeul materials. Consequently, Haengsildo texts require a different approach to annotation. In addition to existing annotation methodologies—such as presenting paraphrased translations alongside literal translations or segmenting and displaying illustrations in the order of the narrative—this study explores advanced annotation methodologies for Haengsildo texts with a focus on reader accessibility. Considering that the background information in Chungshindo section of Samgang Haengsildo is overly condensed and difficult to contextualize without prior knowledge, this study proposes new annotation components to help readers better understand the narrative's context. These include "Reading the Story Context," "Character Relationship Maps," and "Into the Story." The proposed annotation methodology is versatile and can be effectively applied to other texts beyond Haengsildo. As an example, this study demonstrates the application of the methodology using Jongdeok Sinpyeon Eonhae.
